Oudtshoorn Scale Event

Oudtshoorn Scale event is the longest-running event in South Africa for model aeroplanes. It will be held in September 2020 at the Oudtshoorn Airport. It is open to the public. There will be food stalls, entertainment for the children, a hobby shop and over 100 pilots flying and displaying model aeroplanes. Pilots come from all over South Africa for this event which was started almost 50 years ago. What makes this event unique, is that planes are only allowed to fly if there exists a full-size aeroplane. Some of the modes are so detailed it is hard to think that it is only a model. There are also jet displays that look and sound exactly like the real deal! This event is fun for the old and young, especially for any person who loves things with wings! We look forward to having you at our event and have fun with us in the sun. Oudtshoorn is also known for the Cango Caves which are natural caves and rock formations about 30km from the town. We also have many Ostrich farms, where you can learn more about this interesting bird and why Oudtshoorn is called the Ostrich Capital of the world. You can also visit the Cango Wildlife Ranch, where you can swim with crocodiles, pet a cheetah and see many more animals up close and personal.
